Susan Kunze

Second Grade Teacher, Bishop Unified School District

Susan Kunze is a second grade teacher at Elm Street Elementary School in the Bishop Unified School District in Inyo County, where she has taught since 1985.

Mrs. Kunze graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in 1975, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Ryan Act Multiple Subject Credential. In 1982, she completed a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education (Curriculum and Instructional Methodologies) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Mrs. Kunze is a member of the California Mathematics Council, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the Council of Presidential Awardees in Mathematics. She is a frequent presenter at mathematics workshops and conferences. She was a member of the NCTM Illuminations Writing Group and is a member of the LearnZillion Dream Team. She has authored two teacher resource books, Ten Minute Activities, Grades 1-3 and Grammar and Punctuation for Grade 2. Mrs. Kunze was honored to receive the Presidential Award in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2008.
