Ben Young Landis is an independent creative consultant temporarily serving in an Acting Senior Communications Officer role with CCST. He is providing CCST leadership and staff with internal and external mission support related to content, engagement, and strategy delivery.
From 2015 to 2018, Ben also served CCST in a consulting capacity as Communications Advisor, designing and guiding the launch of CCST’s organizational marketing strategy, social media engagement, new programming and products, and special projects. Ben was the lead creator of the CCST Science Translators Showcase, which auditioned and trained graduate students from across California for a conversational networking event communicating scientific research and policy implications with Capitol staffers and Legislative Members.
Previous to working in consulting, Ben was a science communicator with the U.S. Geological Survey. He earned a Master of Environmental Management from the Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment, and his B.A. in Evolution and Ecology with Minor in Education from UC Davis. Ben was a 2009 AAAS Mass Media Science & Engineering Fellow and a 2010 North Carolina Sea Grant Science Communication Fellow.
