Javier A. Garcia joined CCST as a program assistant for CCST’s Science Services and will join the 2022 cohort of CCST Science and Technology Policy Fellows. Prior to joining CCST, he worked at American River College’s STEM Center-MESA program as a coordinator and project lead serving first generation, underrepresented, and low-socioeconomic groups in STEM fields to integrate diversity in science using his own experiences to guide students towards success in their respective field.
Javier recently graduated with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology with a designated emphasis in Biotechnology from UC Davis, where he studied the surface protein topology of Coccidioides, the fungal agent responsible for Valley Fever. He received his M.S. in Biology from California State University, Los Angeles, and his B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and Animal Science from Fresno State University.
