Judith Frankel joined the California Council on Science and Technology as Director of Philanthropy in September 2020. She looks forward to expanding both operating and endowment support for CCST, and helping to build a strong case for a new generation of California philanthropists to invest in science-informed decisions and policy.
Frankel served most recently as Vice President of Development for the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank. In this position, she provided leadership to increase annual support by major individual and foundation supporters, while also heading up successful fundraising for a major building expansion. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Director of Development at the San Francisco Opera, where in addition to managing relationships with the organization’s leading benefactors, she also oversaw the areas of principal giving, legacy giving, research and endowment campaign. In her previous positions, Frankel partnered with boards of directors on matters of strategy, feasibility and recruitment. Before transitioning to nonprofit development, Frankel worked in business-to-business, database and technology marketing, including with Cisco Systems.
She earned Bachelor’s and Master’s of Arts degrees in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Frankel serves on the board of directors for the Golden Gate Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
