Gift Acceptance

Overview

The California Council on Science and Technology (“CCST”) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that exists to make California’s policies stronger with science and technology. CCST was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1988 by a unanimous vote of the California Legislature to provide objective advice from California's scientists and research institutions. We respond to the Governor, the Legislature, and other state entities who request independent assessment of public policy issues affecting the State of California relating to science and technology. CCST’s work is funded by philanthropy, individual donors, the State of California, government contracts, and contributions from Institutional Partners.

Our Commitment to Responsible Giving

CCST welcomes gifts that support our mission to serve as a trusted, nonpartisan source of expert science and technology advice for California policymakers, powered by a world-class partner network. This policy reflects our commitment to accepting gifts responsibly – in ways that advance our mission, protect our integrity, and honor the trust our supporters place in us. All gifts to CCST are subject to an evaluation process designed to ensure alignment with our responsible giving policy.

A gift is defined as a voluntary transfer of money or other assets from an individual or organization to CCST, with no tangible benefit of any kind – including any input into CCST and its partners’ ongoing and future projects, workstreams, or decision-making processes.

For more detailed information, see CCST's Integrity Statement at https://ccst.us/about-ccst/integrity-statement/

Anonymous Gifts and Donor Privacy

CCST respects the wishes of donors who prefer to remain anonymous. The identity of anonymous donors is held in strict confidence and disclosed only as required by law.
