CCST Hosts Expert Briefing on Woody Biomass from Wildfire Mitigation

SACRAMENTO, CA—On September 19, 2019, CCST hosted a CCST Expert Briefing at the California State Capitol on the Beneficial Uses of Woody Biomass from Wildfire Mitigation, in partnership with the Office of Senator Brian Dahle.

It is the fourth in a series on wildfires that CCST has hosted. The panel featured experts Kevin Fingerman from Humboldt State University, Angela Lottes from CAL FIRE, Aindrila Mukhopadhyay from the Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI), George Peridas from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and was moderated by Evan Johnson from the Governor’s Office of Planning & Research.

Wildfire mitigation efforts in California are expected to produce a large amount of woody biomass in remote areas across the state. If you’d like to learn more about it and how California can better utilize it, see the video from our briefing and read the one pager summary on our Expert Briefings page.
