Born in Washington DC and raised in southern Maryland, Chanel received a PhD in Neuroscience from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Her research examined the way that brain cells link together to form circuits that process information. Chanel was co-founder of Johns Hopkins Science Policy Group and a Research Associate at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies. She received a BS in Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Dallas. Chanel is currently a Program Officer in the Forum for Neuroscience and Nervous Systems Disorders at The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
