Theresa A. Maldonado, a member of the California Council on Science and Technology (CCST) Board of Directors, joins an impressive, cross-sectoral task force to shape a Vision for American Science and Technology (VAST). Their work, part of the Science & Technology Action Committee, will help the incoming government update the U.S. vision for science and tech and provide a roadmap to support America’s S&T leadership on the global stage.
The VAST Task Force is working to identify opportunities and challenges facing the research enterprise; assess the steps needed to ensure the enterprise can meet incoming challenges in an increasingly competitive world; and lay out actions that will best position the United States for future prosperity. The task force is supported by the Simons Foundation, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Rita Allen Foundation, and the Allen Institute’s Paul G. Allen Frontiers Group.
Maldonado is Vice President for Research & Innovation at University of California Office of the President. She has served on the CCST Board of Directors since 2020.
