Gallery: CCST Hosts Experts in Sacramento to Discuss California’s Hydrogen Research and Innovation Agenda

SACRAMENTO, Calif.—The California Council on Science and Technology (CCST) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Aisha Lowe to its Board of Directors. Dr. Lowe, who currently serves as Associate Vice Chancellor of Planning, Research, and Institutional Effectiveness for the Los Rios Community College District, brings with her over 25 years of experience in education, research, and policy.
In her role at the Los Rios Community College District, Dr. Lowe leads strategic planning and evaluation efforts across the district’s four colleges. She has been a driving force in improving educational outcomes and fostering equitable learning environments. Her extensive experience includes serving as the Executive Vice Chancellor of the Office of Equitable Student Learning, Experience, and Impact (ESLEI) for the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, where she oversaw Academic Affairs, Student Services, and Workforce & Economic Development for the state’s 116 colleges and 1.9 million students.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Aisha Lowe to our Board,” said CCST Board Chair Peter Cowhey, PhD. “Her distinguished record as a creative educational leader will help CCST contribute to strengthening equity in STEM education. Such advances are vital for creating a skilled workforce that can thrive in an economy where technology and innovation will be critical to delivering a prosperous state economy that serves all our citizens.”
Dr. Lowe has also held significant academic roles, including Associate Professor of Education at William Jessup University and leadership positions at various educational non-profits. Her research on effective strategies for educating students of color has been instrumental in helping educators create inclusive classroom environments that support all students.
Dr. Lowe’s appointment fulfills one of eight independent board positions from California’s business, policy, and philanthropic communities. The remaining 11 board positions represent CCST’s partner institutions: the University of California, California State University System, National Laboratories, California Institute of Technology, Stanford University, the University of California, and the California Community College System. The Board of Directors supports CCST’s mission to provide independent and objective advice to policymakers on public policy issues important to the State of California.
