Sophia Chan
Placement: Department of Toxic Substances Control
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Sophia used X-rays to study membrane materials for carbon capture and other gas separations. Sophia earned her PhD and MS in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Sophia is now an APS/AAAS Congressional Science & Technology Policy Fellow in the Office of Senator Whitehouse.
