Sam Mahanes
Placement: Assembly Utilities & Energy Committee
After moving from Virginia to Southern California, Sam studied seaweeds and how they provide habitat to other marine species. He earned his PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine and a BS in Biology from the University of Miami. Sam is now a Senior Consultant, Joint Legislative Committee on Climate Change Policies at the California State Assembly.
