Andy Kotko served as CalTAC Chair from 2014-2017. He teaches first grade at the Folsom Cordova Academy for Advanced Learning, an inquiry and project-based public magnet program located at Mather Heights Elementary School in Sacramento, California.
Andy studied Engineering and Physics at California State University, Sacramento. In 2016, President Obama named him as a recipient of the President’s Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. He enjoys developing activities that incorporate depth and complexity into the fundamentals of his mathematics instruction. He achieved National Board Certification in 2007 as an Early Childhood Generalist. Andy is a vocal proponent of the Common Core Standards and serves as a presenter of professional development for teachers in the region. He was appointed CalTAC Chair in 2014; previously he had served as CalTAC Vice Chair.
