González is a mathematics teacher and department chair at Pioneer High School in Whittier. he previously served as a member of the National Teacher Advisory Council, and was named California’s Teacher of the Year in 1996. He received the Milken Outstanding Educator Award in 1997. He is also serving his third term in the board of education for Whittier City School District, where he is currently Board President. He holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Point Loma Nazarene College.
He served on CalTAC from 2005-2009.
