Hitomi is the Math and Science Coordinator for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning (CFTL). Hitomi has been involved in education for over 28 years, with 24 years as a classroom teacher. He holds a BA in Biology from UC Berkeley, a single subject credential from CSU Sacramento, and a Master’s in Athletic Administration from St. Mary’s College.
He is former executive director of the Edward Teller Education Center, UC Davis/Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He was named Teacher of the Year by the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, and a Carnegie Scholar by the Carnegie Foundation for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning; he is also a recipient of the TeachEach Award from the Schwab Foundation.
Hitomi served as CalTAC’s first Chair from 2005-2009.
