Roger G. Noll

Noll is Professor Emeritus of Economics in the Department of Economics at Stanford University. He served as a member of the California Council on Science and Technology, 1995-2000.

Noll holds a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University and a B.S. in mathematics from Caltech. Before coming to Stanford, Noll was Institute Professor of Social Science at Caltech, a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and a visiting professor at the University of Michigan and the University of California, San Diego. Noll has won a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Book Award of the National Association of Educational Broadcasters, the Distinguished Service Award of the Public Utilities Research Center and the Alfred Kahn Award for Antitrust Achievement by the American Antitrust Institute. He received the 1994 Rhodes Prize for Undergraduate Teaching from Stanford University.

He is the author or co-author of fifteen books and over 300 articles, including Sports, Jobs and Taxes, 1997; Challenges to Research Universities, 1998; A Communications Cornucopia, 1998; and Economic Reform in India, 2014. Noll also is the co-author of a CCST publication, Bridging the Digital Divide, 2001.
