Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Lick Observatory
Faber is professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Lick Observatory, University of California, Santa Cruz. She was the project leader for the DEep Imaging Multi-Object Spectrograph (DEIMOS), the largest astronomical spectrograph ever built and installed on the Keck II Telescope on Mauna Kea.
Faber received her Ph.D. from Harvard University. Her honors include elected membership in the National Academy of Sciences and being named the 2001-02 University Professor. Her research focuses on the formation and evolution of galaxies and the evolution of structure in the universe.
