Board Advisor (2020 to present)
Lee advises senior management and shareholders of Protexa, a multi-national corporation in oil, gas, energy construction and maintenance, manufacturing, real estate development, and hotel operations, based in Monterrey Mexico, on business strategy and technologies. He serves on the Finance and Business Strategy Committee, and Information Technology Committee.
Previously, Lee was the president and founding CEO of PXiSE Energy Solutions from 2016 to 2022. Before that he served as vice president of infrastructure and technology and vice president of major project controls at Sempra Energy, where he supported the Sempra Energy family of companies in the Americas, providing oversight and governance for large construction projects, including standardizing processes, controls and reporting.
Prior to that, Lee was senior vice president of customer services, innovation and business strategy for SoCalGas where he was responsible for all customer services and programs, as well as strategic planning and development of new businesses and technologies. In addition, he oversaw environmental policies and advanced meter implementation.
From 2009 to 2012, Lee served as vice president of the Sunrise Powerlink project for San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E). Lee oversaw public affairs, environmental, land services, engineering, procurement and construction of the $1.9 billion, 500-kilovolt transmission line – the largest capital infrastructure project in SDG&E’s history.
From 2007 to 2009, he was vice president of energy supply for Sempra Generation, which later became Sempra Renewables. In this position, he was responsible for natural gas procurement, energy sales from a fleet of combined cycle and renewable power plants and daily trading and long-term hedging of power plant output.
From 2002 to 2007, Lee held several director-level positions at SDG&E. His responsibilities in these roles included: construction, maintenance and operations of transmission, substation and distribution systems in the San Diego region; skills and compliance training; business processes support and performance management.
Prior to joining SDG&E in 1991 as an engineer, he worked for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District and the City of Roseville, California.
Lee served two terms as a council member of the California Council on Science and Technology and served in the council of advisors for the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. He serves as an advisory trustee on the California State Parks Foundation board and as an advisor in the Management Committee of the IEEE Smart Village – Empowering Off-Grid Communities around the world.
Lee graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from San Diego State University and holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from California State University, Sacramento. He is a registered professional electrical engineer in California.
