Golub is the former Executive Director of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) in Bethesda, Maryland. He is the former Executive Vice Chancellor of the University of California, Irvine (1994-1999) and was Interim Dean and Provost, Medical Sciences, UC Los Angeles School of Medicine (1992-1994.) He received his Ph.D. in 1969 from Temple University School of Medicine, Department of Microbiology.
After a scientific career studying cellular immunology and immunobiology of cancer, Dr. Golub has turned to issues of science policy and research ethics. He is currently involved in human stem cell research oversight and clinical and translational research ethics. He has been the Interim Director of the UCI Sue & Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center since 2013.
